When Sony announced the Xperia Z5 Compact I was very interested in this phone for various reasons: I’ve been using an iPhone 5s for a while because I like the size of the device but I’m not very happy with the OS. As I like Android better than iOs I thought it was perfect to have a compact device running the OS I like.

So I bought this phone and I’ve been using it for almost 2 weeks now. Here I want to explain to you why I prefer this device to the iPhone 5s or even the 6s.

Size & display

The Sony Xperia Z5 Compact has a great display, big like the one provided by the iPhone 6s and bigger than the one of the iPhone 5s. Colors and brightness in the Z5C are great, blacks are deep and whites are very luminous. Contrast is very good and the density of pixels is enough to enjoy pictures and videos. So the Z5C is a bit bigger than the iPhone 5s but smaller than the 6s with the same display size.

Battery life

Battery life in the iPhone 5s was very disappointing. I see they have improved it in the iPhone 6s but the battery life of the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact is fantastic. I can play, synchronize all my email and social media account, keep location enabled for maps and other services, call and stress my phone for the whole day and still have 30/40% of battery at the end. The first day I’ve bought the phone, which was a Saturday, I used the screen for almost 5 hours with medium brightness and the battery left was 20%.

Operating system

Android vs iOs it’s just a matter of personal preference. Both are valid os but I generally prefer Android: I like the notifications system in Android better than in iOs. I prefer to customize my home screen to have everything I like just a tap away. I like the way in Android you can almost always change configuration quicker than is iOs (for example changing wifi network or check the weather).

The Xperia Z5 Compact has 32gb of internal storage and you can use an external SD card. With the iPhone you are stuck with the internal storage you have. The Z5C is water and dust proof. It means you can take underwater pictures or use your phone under the rain: all tasks you can’t do with an iPhone. I like the way they made the sim slot in the Z5C. With the iPhone you need to bring the sim removal tool with you all the time. You just need to use your finger to remove the sim from your Z5C.

The camera on the Z5C is amazing. The only downsize is that sometimes it is a bit slow turning on (I hope Sony will release a firmware update to fix it). You can see they did a great job keeping crisp details and sharpness featuring a great sensor capable of taking 23mp pictures. Here are a few shots I’ve been taken with this phone in the last few days.
